Less emotional charge
Take some of the force out of the feelings that keep getting triggered, so the same situation does not hit you quite so hard.
I know what it is like to understand a problem intellectually and still feel terrible inside. I use EFT and other practical tools to help people reduce the emotional charge behind stress, anxiety and old patterns.
You do not need to impress me, explain everything perfectly or pretend you are coping better than you are.
“For years I thought the outside world was the problem. What changed my life was discovering I could change my reaction to it.”
Notice · Tap · Let go
Does this sound familiar?
That was me for years. I could study, work and appear capable, while underneath I was angry, anxious, overwhelmed and not coping.
You go over conversations again and again, getting angry or upset long after they are over.
You know logically that you should be able to cope, but your emotions do not seem to listen to logic.
You have tried talking, analysing or pushing feelings down, but the same reactions keep coming back.
You are tired of managing symptoms and want something practical you can actually use when the feelings hit.
What can change
Take some of the force out of the feelings that keep getting triggered, so the same situation does not hit you quite so hard.
When the emotional intensity comes down, you have more choice about what you say, what you do and what you make the situation mean.
EFT is practical. Once you understand the basics, you have a tool you can use yourself rather than being completely dependent on a practitioner.
A simple EFT sequence
Gently identify what you are feeling right now.
Tap lightly on a sequence of acupressure points.
Pause and notice whether the intensity has shifted.
What is EFT?
EFT, or tapping, is a simple technique where you focus on what is bothering you while tapping on a sequence of points on the face and upper body.
I am less interested in giving you a clever explanation for why you feel the way you do than in helping you notice what is happening inside and see whether we can reduce its intensity. We work with what is actually there, one piece at a time.
My story
Dr Alex Chambers · EFT Practitioner
I trained as a doctor. I was bright, scientific and good at studying. But underneath that, I had struggled emotionally for most of my life.
I grew up in an alcoholic home and never really felt safe. I learnt to suppress what I felt and get on with things. That worked for a while. Then it did not.
By my twenties I was drinking heavily, in counselling and struggling badly with stress, relationships and work. I eventually left medicine. Over the years I tried counselling, medication, psychiatry and a lot of thinking about why I was the way I was. I understood plenty. I still felt awful.
The change started when I began to see that I had spent years fighting, suppressing and trying to escape my own feelings. I had assumed that people, jobs and circumstances were what made me feel the way I did.
“It was my reaction to the outside world that was causing so much of my distress — not simply the outside world itself.”
One small incident brought that home to me. I was sitting on a park bench in a very dark state when a friendly dog came over wagging its tail. For a moment my whole internal state changed. The circumstances of my life had not changed in those few seconds. My reaction had.
That sounds obvious when you read it. It was not obvious to me then. It gave me the first real sense that my inner state was not completely outside my control.
I began learning ways of working directly with the feelings I had pushed down for years. EFT became one of the most useful tools. At first I was not sophisticated about it at all. I simply found what hurt, tapped on it and kept going.
Progress was not instant and it was not a straight line. But over time I became less angry, less anxious and less driven by old emotional reactions. The important thing for me was that I was no longer just analysing my problems. I finally had something practical to do with them.
That is the basis of how I work now. I am not interested in pretending life can be made permanently calm or that one technique fixes everything. I am interested in helping you identify what is really setting you off, work with the emotional reaction underneath it, and give you something useful you can practise yourself.
If you are intelligent, self-aware and thoroughly fed up with understanding your problems without actually feeling any better, you are the sort of person I understand very well.

Kind words
Replace these sample quotations with genuine, permission-based testimonials.
I felt lighter after our first session. The situation had not changed, but it no longer felt as though it was controlling me.
The sessions felt calm and safe. I never felt pushed to talk about more than I was ready to share.
I now have something practical I can do when my thoughts start racing. That has made a real difference.
Rather than asking you to commit to months of sessions, we start with three. That is enough time to identify what is causing you the most trouble, use EFT on it and show you how to continue using the method yourself.
