Combining EFT Tapping with Journaling

A simple method for using short written reflections to identify useful tapping targets and notice change.

Journaling can help you find the words for an EFT session, while tapping can reduce the intensity that sometimes keeps writing repetitive or overwhelming.

Write before tapping

Set a timer for three minutes and complete the sentence: “What is most present for me right now is…” Do not edit the answer. Underline the phrase carrying the strongest emotion.

Use that phrase while tapping for one or two rounds. Then write again: “What I notice now is…” The second response may show a change in intensity, a new perspective or a more specific concern.

Keep it contained

You do not need pages of analysis. A few sentences before and after tapping can reveal useful patterns over time.

Store private writing securely and stop if the exercise brings up material that feels beyond your capacity to manage safely.
