What to Do When EFT Does Not Seem to Work
Common reasons tapping may feel ineffective and gentle adjustments that can make the practice clearer.
Sometimes EFT produces no obvious change. This does not necessarily mean you have failed or that you are incapable of benefiting from the practice.
Make the target more specific
“This anxiety” may be too broad. Try one scene, thought or body sensation: “the moment I open my inbox” or “the pressure in my chest when I imagine the meeting.”
Check for pressure to improve
Trying to force the feeling away can create a second layer of frustration. Tap on that directly: “I need this to work right now” or “I am annoyed that nothing is changing.”
Notice subtle shifts
The intensity may remain similar while the sensation moves, the wording changes or the issue feels more distant. These are useful observations.
If self-tapping repeatedly feels stuck, a qualified practitioner may help you identify aspects you have overlooked.
