How Long Should an EFT Session Be?
Guidance on choosing a manageable tapping duration for self-practice without turning it into another source of pressure.
An EFT session does not need to be long. For everyday self-practice, five to fifteen minutes may be enough to focus on one clear issue and notice whether anything changes.
Let the issue guide the length
A mild frustration may shift after two rounds. A complicated concern may reveal several layers and be better approached across separate sessions. Longer is not automatically better.
Set a time boundary before you begin. Pause every few rounds to check your intensity, breathing and sense of safety. Finish with grounding: look around the room, feel your feet and name what you will do next.
Stop while you still feel steady
Avoid pushing for a dramatic result. Consistent, contained practice is generally more sustainable than occasional sessions that leave you exhausted.
Seek trained support for traumatic, severe or persistent difficulties.
